Silvia Martinez serves as Board District 3 Chief of Staff, after serving as Policy Director and Deputy Chief of Staff for six years.
In this role, she works with all BD3 staff to support Board Member Schmerelson’s goals and initiatives, oversees operations and works in close liaison with District leadership. She manages media inquiries and assists in the development of effective relationships with key stakeholders. She also writes, researches, analyzes and follows through on Board Member communications, and makes recommendations concerning the implementation of board resolutions and policies.
Prior to joining LAUSD Board District 3 staff, Silvia was the Community Affairs Deputy for LAUSD School Board Member Bennett Kayser serving as the liaison for Mr. Kayser to the communities of East Los Angeles and the Southeast cities.
Silvia grew up in Bell, California; a proud product of LAUSD. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy with an emphasis in American Politics and International Relations. During her spare time, Silvia enjoys drawing, playing tennis, reading Spanish literature, and watching movies.
