During October’s Student Advisory Council, students engaged with Student Board Member Parishi Kanuga and LAUSD’s Medical Director, Dr. Smita Malhotra.
- They agree that being physically at school promotes healthy interactions, engagement and optimum learning which is what motivated them to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
- Ms. Kanuga discussed her experience as Student Board Member, and the importance of elevating student voice, particularly regarding protecting others against Covid-19.
- Dr. Smita Malhotra discussed her personal story, vaccine efficacy, vaccine safety, and debunked falsehoods related to the vaccine.
- Students had the opportunity to discuss their thoughts on information presented. They decided the best way to follow up their discussion with action was to promote vaccine awareness at their respective schools.
