At this meeting, the Board approved the Community-Centered Greening Initiatives: Strengthening Equity Through Parent Engagement and External Partnerships sponsored by Board Vice President Rivas and Board President Schmerelson.  You can watch the video here.

  • The resolution prioritizes environmental justice by ensuring all LAUSD students have access to healthy, green learning environments regardless of zip code. It directly addresses inequities in access to green spaces, shade, and climate-resilient infrastructure by removing financial barriers for nonprofits that secure funding for school greening projects. This commitment to sustainability and equity ensures that historically underserved communities receive the resources needed to combat urban heat, improve air quality, and create outdoor spaces that promote student well-being and academic success.
  • The resolution calls on the superintendent to remove internal fees for non-profit organizations for greening projects.
  • The resolution also calls for investing $3 million in District resources, including eligible bond funds, for greening projects.

The Board also approved, among other items, these investments, for BD3 schools

  • FamilySource Partnership Program: collaboration between LAUSD and the City of Los Angeles, with PSA Counselors co-located at 19 FamilySource Centers. It focuses on improving academic achievement and increasing graduation rates by addressing barriers to success. In 3 BD3 sites El Centro de Amistad 1, New Economics for Women Canoga Park, New Economics for Women Van Nuys
  • Eight mobile technology trailers for the iDREAM Mobile Labs Project, aimed at supporting STEAM and iDREAM programs. 
  • Design contract for architectural and engineering services for the Accessibility Enhancement Project at Parthenia Academy of Arts and Technology. The school site spans 6.33 acres with 440 students, 58 of whom have disabilities, and upgrades include restrooms, drinking fountains, 
  • 21 Solar Photovoltaic Projects to reduce energy consumption and provide sustainable energy solutions at school sites,  projects will generate significant cost savings for the District (Northridge MS; Mulholland MS; Nobel Charter MS)
  • Resolution: Celebrating our Emergency Responders: the District will provide resources for families and employees impacted by the wildfires including transportation support, housing assistance, and childcare.
