The first meeting of the Special Education took place on September 9th. Board Member Schmerelson started by introducing the new committee members. Here’s the agenda, with their names.
The Division of Special Education staff provided an update on how they continue to support students with disabilities. The second presentation featured Rio Vista Elementary School and Ms. Kickert Assistant Principal; EIS provided an update on how the school adapted their plans, protocols and school systems to support students and families. Lastly, Dr. Gilchick from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health gave an update on how the County supported families during the pandemic and how they continue to work with the District to support families now that in person instruction has begun.
