The resolution “Celebration of Play Day on June 28, 2025, and Promotion of Play Equity” was adopted by the Board.

  • Proposal for the District to reaffirm its commitment to closing the play equity gap and championing policies that ensure all students access the benefits of sport, play, and movement.
  • This initiative recognizes that play is crucial not only for physical health but also for fostering social-emotional learning, creativity, and resilience in students.
  • By dedicating a day to play, the District aims to highlight these benefits and encourage schools and communities to prioritize recreational opportunities year-round.

Board President Schmerelson’s quote: “When we recognize that play is not a break from learning, but rather the way young minds explore and make sense of the world around them, we can see why ensuring equal access to play is so critical.
