Nyx is a senior at Stoney Point Continuation High School. This is her first time on the Student Advisory Council. Her principal recommended the opportunity to Nyx, and she was interested in learning about the other schools around the area. Living in Chatsworth for her whole life, Nyx has a strong passion for cooking and is working to get into culinary school. At Stoney Point HS, Nyx is recognizable for her unique style and outgoing personality.

Sonia is an Independence High School student born and raised in Van Nuys. This is her first year joining the Student Advisory Council. After her principal introduced her to the opportunity to make changes in the school and learn more about her school district and how it works, Sonia is currently participating in leadership on Wednesdays in hopes of following her dream of becoming an Author after she graduates, works at a hair salon with her aunt on Saturdays and loves spending time with her cat.

Syeda M. Ali is a Senior at Lake Balboa College Prep and a second-year member of the Student Advisory Council. She's a passionate advocate about public service and financial literacy. Having interned with Councilwoman Traci Park's Field and District Office, she proposed a financial literacy motion to the LA City Legislature and consistently met with over 200 constituents weekly on behalf of the California State Legislature. Syeda's knowledge expands further as she has continues engaging in legal and legislative research. As the Associated Student Body President of her school, she manages a $65,000 school budget while serving as hundreds of students' advocate in front of district leaders. She has also led several successful fundraisers, including the first in-person event since COVID at her school. In her free time, Syeda enjoys nature walks and discovering hidden coffee shops in the heart of LA. Syeda pours her dedication into everything that she does, and hopes to give back to others in the future.

Zoie Anderson is a freshman at Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences. This is her first year on the Student Advisory Council. She joined because she has been coming to the meetings just to watch since she was in middle school, and it inspired her.

Mia is a senior attending Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences. This will be her third year serving on the Student Advisory Council, and she is more than delighted to continue representing her peers. As a curious and inquisitive individual, Mia enjoys exploring new opportunities and interests in and outside of school. She holds titles at her school’s Guitar Club, Model UN Club, Newspaper/Source Slub, Stress Management Club, Principal's Cabinet, Local School Leadership Council (LSLC), Student Site Council, and College Ambassador’s Mentee Program. In her spare time, she loves reading, playing video games, listening to music, helping a band compose music, and geeking over cars.

Rohan Blum is a senior at North Hollywood Senior High School. He joined the Student Advisory Council as a freshman due to his passion for local government, and has only grown as a student leader. He has interned with local representatives, and is passionate about helping students who struggle with mental illness and burnout. He also loves watching movies and TV, and hopes to pursue a career in either politics or the arts. His favorite food is steak, and he enjoys spending time with his family.

Nadia is a student at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School. This is her first year on the Student Advisory Council. After learning about this opportunity from one of her peers, she decided to apply because she was interested in how to better her school’s community and other communities in the district. Nadia is vice president of her school’s book club and strives to pursue a career in writing. In her free time, she composes music with her friends and performs at local coffee shops.

Allison is a student at Independence High School. This is her first year in the student’s Advisory Council. After getting introduced to the great opportunity by her principal, she decided to apply because she wanted to change her school so that those who came could learn more about how her school district works. Allison is currently in Chicano Studies College Carrer class and attending leadership Wednesdays in the hope of following her career in criminal justice after she graduates; she was born in Oakland, CA, and raised in Los Angeles; she works half the time helping out her mom around the house with siblings and looks forward in getting more opportunities.

Christine is a junior at John F Kennedy High School, and this is her second year on the Student Advisory Council. After experiencing the council for the first time, Christine decided to join again to be able to further participate in her community and maximize the opportunities that the advisory council presents her. At Kennedy, Christine is currently the editor-in-chief of her school newspaper, the president and founder of NHS, the treasurer for SNHS, the vice-president for CSF, the president and founder of the Best Buddies club, the president of her school's journalism club, and a participating member of Kennedy's associated student body. Through the club's connections, Christine has also implemented two California native gardens at Kennedy High School that can be used for sensory purposes of her Best Buddies group. Christine is interested in branching out to various topics and hopes to further her leadership skills through the advisory council.

Summer is a junior in the Medical Magnet at Van Nuys High School and a 2nd year council member. She loves helping and serving others, as demonstrated by her work at a local hospital. Summer has always been a closed, introverted person. Still, after entering high school, she decided to step out of her comfort zone and take new, intimidating opportunities like being a member of the Student Advisory Council. Aside from rigorous academics and her goal to pursue the medical field, she has been dancing for over 12 years and is a part of her school's Dance Company. She holds several club officer positions and is president of the Junior class. Summer is a dedicated individual whose priority is keeping a healthy balance in her life academically, socially, physically, and mentally.

Miriam is a senior at North Hollywood High School, and this is her second year on the Student Advisory Council. Miriam is interested in all forms of writing—academic, analytical, journalistic, and creative. She wants to expand her writing to make a difference in her community through policy and civic engagement. She runs her school's literary and arts magazine as Editor-in-Chief and the History Day team as Co-Vice President, helping other students with their projects and individual writing. Her goal as a member of the SAC is to advocate for and empower student voices to drive change in her community.

Serena is a student at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School for Journalism and Communications. She is excited to participate in her first year on the Advisory Council. Having held positions in her high school PTSA, SSC, and LSLC councils, she wanted to join the District Advisory team to better understand the issues within her community at a higher level and have a greater impact within her school and community. She is passionate about the issues affecting students today, such as school funding, school shootings, mental health, and addiction. Beyond her various council positions, Serena also serves as Class President and founded the Ambassador Program at DPMHS to promote her school at magnet nights and throughout the community. She hopes to pursue a career in entertainment marketing and advertising after she graduates. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at the local Tarzana Community Center, helping and organizing school events, watching international films, practicing archery and spending time with her younger brothers.

Dwayne is a student at Van Nuys High School. This is his first year on the Student Advisory Council. He decided to join because he wanted to represent his peers' individual voices and concerns in an official setting and meet like-minded leaders from other schools. Dwayne has a passion for children’s education and is a member of two youth organizations specializing in STEM and civic education, respectively. In his free time, Dwayne is an avid guitarist and baker who is very proud of his chocolate chip cookies.

Reynold is a student at Van Nuys High School. This is his first year on the Student Advisory Council. Interested in civics, Reynold believes in equitable opportunities for all. Working at an Immigration law office, Reynold learned the sanctity of equitable learning opportunities for all, regardless of their socio-economic background. Reynold currently holds several leadership positions, including Track and Field Captain, Cross Country Captain, and Academic Decathlon Captain. In his free time, he enjoys taking care of his six rescue dogs and playing the flute and tenor saxophone.

Nelly is a Junior at Canoga Park High School and a first-year member of the Student Advisory Council. She aims to represent her school’s interests and is motivated to improve her school's community as the school's student body treasurer. She is interested in political science and hopes to attend USC or the University of Washington. Her hobbies include running, playing video games, and spending time with her loved ones. Nelly is eager to explore the opportunities and experiences SAC has to offer!

April is a senior at Lake Balboa College Preparatory. This is her second year on the Student Advisory Council. Along with partaking in the Chief Medical Director’s Student Advisory Council, she has served as her class's Associate Student Body Vice President and vice president for four consecutive years. April also serves as president of a tutoring and pre-med club at school. She assists her community by volunteering at the American Red Cross during her free time. April aspires to graduate from high school with an associate degree in psychology. She plans to attend a UC and pursue her career as a PA (physician assistant). She is looking forward to representing her school and becoming involved with the aim of learning more about the LAUSD community.

Christina is a student at Lake Balboa College Preparatory Magnet K-12. She is involved in her school’s volleyball, cross country, basketball, and track and field team. She is the class treasurer. She is also a member and leader in her school’s debate team, the Good News Club, and the Hispanic club. This is her first year as a student ambassador on the Student Advisory Council. She looks forward to collaborating with students from other schools to learn more about LAUSD and what goes on behind the scenes. She takes her studies very seriously and receives guidance and support from her family and through her faith. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She is very excited to be a part of this student advisory council where she hopes to make a meaningful impact in her school and community while collaborating with other students from different backgrounds.

Christopher is a senior at Lake Balboa College Preparatory Magnet K-12. This is his third year on the Student Advisory Council. He is looking forward to reprising his role on the council, representing his school, and working with his peers to ensure their opinions are heard. He was born and raised in Lake Balboa and wants to make a difference in his school and community. He is currently a part of his school's Debate team, as well as the basketball, volleyball, cross country, and track teams.

Additionally, he is the class president. He enjoys learning all subjects, but science and literature are his favorites. He plans to pursue a career in Biology.

Abraam is a junior at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School. This is going to be his first year on the Student Advisory Council. He thinks this is a great opportunity for him to address the issues the schools have been facing lately, what we currently face as a community, and be heard as a student representative of his school. He is the Student Body director for the DPMHS Music Band, PTSA's Historian & Music Department Chair, and now he got the amazing opportunity to be on the board for the Student Advisory Council. In his free time he likes to listen to music, watch Netflix, and to go out with his friends. He is a trilingual Armenian student who speaks Armenian, Russian, and English. He is passionate about Law and Real Estate and wants to pursue this as his career.

Emily Guzman is a 17-year-old student at Stoney Point High School. She wanted to join SAC to dive deeper into her education, help others, and learn from them. When she graduates, she hopes to attend college and become an ultrasound Tech. She was born and raised in Canoga Park and lives with her parents and two brothers. What she is looking forward to this year is learning about others and training for SRLA.

Brielle is a dedicated student and athlete in her first year on the Student Advisory Council, where she is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion. As a committed basketball and flag football team member, she balances her athletic pursuits with her role as a Girl Scout. Brielle loves working with kids and hopes to become a pediatrician, driven by her desire to make a positive impact in her community.

Michael is a senior at North Hollywood High School. This is his third year as a member of the Student Advisory Council, a role in which he has worked to empower student voices in district policymaking and expand green spaces in schools. This year, he hopes to work at the intersection of these policy issues, ultimately giving students a greater voice in shaping their campuses. Beyond the SAC, Michael serves as the president of his school's National History Day team and reads as many World War II biographies as he can get his hands on.

Leo is a student at John F. Kennedy High School. This is his third year on the Student Advisory Council. After a fantastic past two years serving the council, he's back for his senior year, and he's joining Superintendent Carvalho's Advisory Council for the second year now. He is interested in making a positive difference in his district as well as trying to make every student's voice heard. Leo also founded a mental health organization, garnering a large amount of social media attention and working on the production of a related documentary. In his free time, he enjoys photography, cars and games.

Elise is a junior at Cleveland Charter High School in the Humanities Magnet. This is her first year on the Student Advisory Council, which initially sparked her interest when she first learned about it because of the new experiences it offers. She believes that it provides a great opportunity for her to step out of her comfort zone and learn more about how she could contribute to the policy decisions that her school district makes. On the campus Cleveland, Elise co-founded the Christian Club and joined the MUN program. Elise has always been interested in pursuing a career in the medical field after graduating from high school. She also enjoys editing videos and being active in her free time, such as taking hikes.

Brianna is a junior at Chatsworth High School, joining the council for the first time and eager to collaborate with others to bring positive change to her school. As the Class of 2026 Vice President, she actively participates in clubs and their activities. In addition to her role, she teaches Sunday school and is passionate about community service. Previously, Brianna served as the secretary of SFVYL (San Fernando Youth Valley Leaders), the organizers of the San Fernando Youth Olympics hosted at Chatsworth. Her past experiences taught her valuable lessons in communication, teamwork, and leadership.

Jenny is a junior at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School. This is her first year on the Student Advisory Council, and she’s excited to represent her school and sharpen her leadership skills. At school, she is the Online Editor-in-Chief for her school’s publication, The Pearl Post, a co-host for her school’s publication’s student-run podcast, Room 22, and serves as the Secretary of the Class of 2026. Additionally, she’s on the Los Angeles Times High School Insider Student Advisory Board this fall semester. In her free time, she loves hanging out with friends, listening to music, and catching up on sleep.

Ellen is a senior at Northridge Academy High School. This is her first year serving on the Student Advisory Council. She learned about Board District 3 while serving on the Region North student advisory council. She decided it would be a great opportunity to meet with the district leaders who make decisions impacting her school. She has been a large part of the LAUSD community while serving as vice chairperson at her school site council and as a student representative of the LAUSD Safety Task Force and such. She also loves to volunteer in her community through her role as vice president of the volunteer organization Key Club. Her proudest achievement would be executing a TED-ed talk about stepping out of your comfort zone to improve one's confidence. She is also president of the Armenian club and has brought awareness to Armenian issues with Genocide remembrance assemblies and fundraisers for Artsakh refugees. She is very connected with her Armenian roots, and her favorite part of the year is traveling to Armenia to see her relatives. She is very interested in being a part of the community and ultimately changing it.

Kairo is a sophomore at Chatsworth Charter High School. He had recently moved to California from Canada and heard about the Student Advisory Council from a friend in the Robotics club.One of his biggest dreams is to someday change the school system, and what better way to learn about it than interacting with the school board itself? He is currently moving up the ladder in his school’s robotics club & practicing his leadership skills. Even though he has moved from his hometown in Pickering, Ontario, he always looks forward to going back and visiting his friends and family every year.

Sudha is a senior at Van Nuys High School Medical Magnet. This is her second year on the Student Advisory Council. At school, she is involved in various clubs, holding officer positions in several, and founded two of her very own as well. As Senior Class President, an ASB member for three years, and a member of the LAUSD Superintendent SAC, she is heavily engaged with student life, student services, and student needs. Outside of school, she founded Shelf Life, which focused on promoting reading and providing access to books for all kids through book drives, volunteering, and fundraising. She has been a volunteer for the Bengali American Society since the age of 5. Through these experiences, Sudha has discovered a passion for school and community involvement. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, hiking, dancing with her friends in the VNHS Dance Company, and spending time with her family.

June is a junior at North Hollywood High School. This is her second year with SAC, and she hopes to contribute to academic advocacy, whether it be for student voices, subject diversity, or mental health. She is also the secretary of her school's speech and debate club and runs a youth literary magazine. June enjoys creative writing, playing with her dog, and reading in her free time.

Winston is a junior at Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences. This is his first year on the Student Advisory Council. He joined the Student Advisory Council because he is interested in making positive change in LAUSD. He hopes to pursue a career in the legal field and he currently runs the Model U.N. club at his school. Winston enjoys reading, writing and volunteering for Key Club in his free time.

Ansh is a senior at Chatsworth Charter High School G+ STEAM Magnet. Ansh is passionate about acquiring and utilizing his knowledge of computer science and physics. Ansh is a member of the G+ STEAM Council at his school and participates in Robotics, Science and Engineering Club, and MUN (Model United Nations). After being raised in Porter Ranch, he was inspired to join D-Groups at Shepherd Church. Through this program, he has talked to others about his faith in Jesus and making the right decisions in life. Some hobbies Ansh occupies his free time with are basketball, reading, and playing video games.

Andrew is a student at Lake Balboa College Prep. This is his first year on the Student Advisory Council. After learning about the council from his peers, he decided to apply to connect with students across LAUSD North and raise awareness for issues at his school. Andrew is president of the debate team and school newspaper. He is working on projects for civic engagement, countering disinformation, and raising money for Armenian charities. He hopes to become a lawyer one day and, hopefully, eventually serve in public office.

Hailee is a junior at VAAS, and this is her second year with the Student Advisory Council. She plays varsity volleyball, volunteers through Key Club, and manages online posts and promotions for her clubs and a local cookie business. She hopes to major in business and attend a top college.

Chloe is a senior at Chatsworth Charter High School G+STEAM Magnet. This is her second year in the BD3 Student Advisory Council. Chloe's previous experience in this council allowed her to connect mental health initiatives with greenifying schools, reaching over 1,000 students within her school. Chloe is the President of the Gifted and Talented Education SAC of LAUSD and the Mock Trial team in her school, as she aspires to become a future attorney working for the public good. Chloe's interest in public speaking and district policy increased after interning at the Region North District Office over the summer.

Arooba is a sophomore at Canoga Park High School. This is my first year on the Student Advisory Council. She applied because she wanted to meet new people from other schools and gain a new perspective. She loves the arts and law and hopes to pursue them as her career.
