Karla serves as Board District 3 Community Affairs Deputy

Karla Silva serves as the Community Affairs Deputy for LAUSD Board District 3.
She is the point of contact for 52 schools in Board District 3, working with principals, staff, and local organizations to support school-community partnerships. Karla also coordinates the Student Advisory Council and manages outreach with local Neighborhood Councils, including preparing monthly updates and organizing school participation in community meetings.
She earned her degree in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she worked as an Orientation Leader and mentor for incoming students. During her senior year, she interned at the Superior Court of Los Angeles in Pomona. After graduation, she worked in the Office of Councilmember Al Austin in Long Beach, where she organized a citywide Prom Attire Donation Drive and pop-up shop for LBUSD students.
Karla now supports a wide range of projects for Board District 3, helping connect schools with resources, elevate student voices, and strengthen ties across the community.
